2 Chronicles 31-33

2 Chronicles 33:10-13 The Lord spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they paid no attention. Therefore the Lord brought upon them the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria, who captured Manasseh with hooks and bound him with chains of bronze and brought him to Babylon. And when he was in distress, he entreated the favor of the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. He prayed to him, and God was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God.

God knows how to get our attention. I pray you are wise enough to walk in humility rather than having to be bound with chains to understand our need for God

2 Chronicles 28 -30

2 Chronicles 29:31-36 Then Hezekiah said, “You have now consecrated yourselves to  the Lord. Come near; bring sacrifices and thank offerings to the house of the Lord.” And the assembly brought sacrifices and thank offerings, and all who were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings. The number of the burnt offerings that the assembly brought was 70 bulls, 100 rams, and 200 lambs; all these were for a burnt offering to the Lord.

"And the consecrated offerings were 600 bulls and 3,000 sheep. But the priests were too few and could not flay all the burnt offerings, so until other priests had consecrated themselves, their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was finished—for the Levites were more upright in heart than the priests in consecrating themselves. Besides the great number of burnt offerings, there was the fat of the peace offerings, and there were the drink offerings for the burnt offerings. Thus the service of the house of the Lord was restored. And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because God had prepared for the people, for the thing came about suddenly."

God is able to restore suddenly what the enemy and evil men have destroyed. I believe God has prepared us for a revival in this upstate region. Hang on because it may come upon us suddenly.

2 Chronicles 26:16-21 But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the Lord his God and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense. But Azariah the priest went in after him, with eighty priests of the Lord who were men of valor, and they withstood King Uzziah and said to him, “It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have done wrong, and it will bring you no honor from the Lord God.”Then Uzziah was angry. Now he had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and when he became angry with the priests, leprosy  broke out on his forehead in the presence of the priests in the house of the Lord, by the altar of incense. And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead! And they rushed him out quickly, and he himself hurried to go out, because the Lord had struck him.And King Uzziah was a leper to the day of his death, and being a leper lived in a separate house, for he was excluded from the house of the Lord. And Jotham his son was over the king's household, governing the people of the land.

He grew proud to his destruction. How many have been destroyed because they allowed the very thing God provided in their life to become a source of personal pride. When we are strong be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. And realize thats where are strength comes from. Our success can be far more dangerous to us than failure if it brings with it pride.

2 Chronicles 22 - 24

2 Chronicles 24:23-24 At the end of the year the army of the Syrians came up against Joash. They came to Judah and Jerusalem and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people and sent all their spoil to the king of Damascus.24Though the army of the Syrians had come with few men, the Lord delivered into their hand a very great army, because Judah had forsaken the Lord, the God of their fathers. Thus they executed judgment on Joash.

It's never the size of the army that makes the difference, but who is on the Lord’s side.
Psalms 20:7 “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the name of our God”.

God doesn't bust down doors

The Holy Ghost is a free gift.

It is God’s good pleasure to pour it out.

So, why don’t some people get it when they ask?

This question has bothered me for some time. We’ve all see it happen, maybe experienced it ourselves. Someone will go to the altar, lift their hands, repent of their sins and ask God to fill them.

Then ... nothing.

Why God? Why didn’t you pour out your spirit? It’s free, and they’re asking for it.

God showed me something in prayer that I’d like to share with you.

Pastor spoke last week on Matthew 12:44. "Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out, and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished."

The repented heart is that swept-up home. The act of repenting set the house in order. BUT, the Holy Ghost also can’t come in till we open the door.

Fear, doubt, a lack of trust – these are all shut doors.

God is a gentlemen. He won’t go where He is not invited. And, He won’t break down doors.

Instead, He will gently knock.

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Rev. 3:20

A repented person can stand and lift their hands, but if they won’t (or don’t know how) to open the door, God can’t come in. They could be saying on our lips, "Lord, fill me!" but deep in their heart, they are thinking, "I can’t trust Him," "I don’t believe." Something deep in them is keeping that door closed.

I want to pray that God will show me doors. I want my prayer to be not just fervent – but directed.

We can not pry open doors, but we can pray them open. We can help that hungry soul seeking God to see what it is that is stopping them from receiving His free gift.

The Gildarts have been a vital part of Gateway for many years. Several months ago Jim received a wonderful promotion and has been transfered to Salem, CT. Since that time he has been commuting back home on the weekends. They finally found a new home there, and even though we'll miss them, we're very happy the family will be together again.

All the Gildart girls have promised to keep in touch with their friends in the Youth group thanks to the cyber highway. Our worship services will miss the tender hearts and vibrant voices of Moriah and Alex.

We will miss you all very much...

God bless you.

Love,

Your Gateway Family
