2 Samuel 10 - 12

2 Samuel 11:1&2 In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel. And they ravaged the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. It happened, late one afternoon, when David arose from his couch......

What a sad chapter in David's life. As you will see it brings him grief to the end of his days. Nothing good happens when we are lazy. David's life would have been totally different if he had only been where he was suppose to be.
