2 Chronicles14:9 Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million men and 300 chariots, and came as far as Mareshah. And Asa went out to meet him, and they drew up their lines of battle in the Valley of Zephathah at Mareshah. And Asa cried to the Lord his God, “O Lord, there is none like you to help, between the mighty and the weak. Help us, O Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. O Lord, you are our God; let not man prevail against you.” So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled. Asa and the people who were with him pursued them as far as Gerar, and the Ethiopians fell until none remained alive, for they were broken before the Lord and his army. The men of Judah carried away very much spoil.
These events in history are so important for a child of God to know. God’s blessings are upon those who serve Him. When a nation turns from God trouble is inevitable. " Except the Lord build the house they labor in vain that build it ," " Except the Lord watch over the city the watchmen watches in vain."

2 Chronicles 10-12

2 Chronicles 12:1-8 When the rule of Rehoboam was established and he was strong, he abandoned the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him. In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, because they had been unfaithful to the Lord, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem with 1,200 chariots and 60,000 horsemen.
And the people were without number who came with him from Egypt—Libyans, Sukkiim, and Ethiopians. And he took the fortified cities of Judah and came as far as Jerusalem. Then Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah, who had gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, “Thus says the Lord, ‘You abandoned me, so I have abandoned you to the hand of Shishak.’” Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The Lord is righteous.”When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: “They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak. Nevertheless, they shall be servants to him, that they may know my service and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.”
How quick our lives can change when we stop serving God. The word says when we are weak than are we strong in the Lord. Isn’t it amazing how people abandon the very thing that brings them stability and strength?

Looking back at the path

We are the sum of our experiences.
I am who I am because of what I’ve been through.
God laid this thought on my heart on Sunday and I wanted to share it.
Who hasn’t looked back on their past and thought, "Ouch, I wish I didn’t do that." Though my sins are forgiven and removed from me as far as the East is from the West, I still look back at my life before Christ on occasion and have regrets. It’s only natural to think about past failings, times we have fallen short of the mark, and think, that if we could do it over, we would have done things differently.
I look at my young children and think, "How can I isolate them from this world?," "How can I keep them from falling like I did?," "How can I protect them from the hurt of sin?"
That’s when God spoke to me, "They have to fall, so they can find forgiveness through me."
I can be no one’s Savior.
I will sin. And, those I love will fail. But I need to have the faith and trust in God that restoration will come.
So now, looking back on my past, do I regret my sins? I am sorry for them, yes. But I also realize that my failing are a big part of who I am today. I am the sum of my experiences.
Not only have I been able to enjoy God’s forgiveness, but I am able to be a minister of grace because I know what it feels like to have that grace extended to me.
This same thought can be extended to trials in life. When my brother died nine months ago, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through in my life. Yet, at the same time, I’ve never felt so close to God.
When people go through struggles – financial hardships, a death in the family, the sorrow of a miscarriage, the loss of a job – we might ask God – why?
But if we did not suffer, how would we ever have a point of reference, to help others when they suffer. Who better to help someone who has suffered loss than someone who has been there? Who better to lift someone up who is struggling with their finances, than someone who has been there?
We are the sum of our experiences: the times we have overcome sin; the times we have failed; the times we have been blessed; and the times we have suffered.
We are who we are because of all of it, the good and the bad.
And it makes us the ministers of the Gospel we are today.

2 Chronicles 7:12-14 Then the Lord appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people,if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
This is one for the memory banks. True prayer is born from humility. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Pride leads us to sin, Humility leads us to God.

2 Chronicles 6:1- 6 Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that he would dwell in thick darkness. But I have built you an exalted house, a place for you to dwell in forever.”Then the king turned around and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel stood. And he said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to David my father, saying,‘Since the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there, and I chose no man as prince over my people Israel; but I have chosen Jerusalem that my name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.’
Let today be a day that you bless the Lord for something He has fulfilled in your life . If you have served Him you will find countless things to bless Him for.
