The Praise In Us [Sunday School Aug 23rd]

Listen to the audio at the bottom of this post.

Speaker: Ned Kneebone

Lucifer was created to praise the creator. However, when he chose to rebel and was cast out of heaven a job opening was posted in heaven. A position that was offered to humanity. He put a song of praise in each of us from the womb and when that song comes forth it brings peace, joy, salvation, healing and all that He’s promised us.

Inside of us God has given us something (even before the new birth.)  Because of the cross we can enter into that holy place, hands washed clean, hearts purified, clothed with righteousness. We can lift our voice, let that song of praise within us to come forth and HE will engage the enemy.  For the battle is not ours, but the Lord’s.

My Greatest Concern [Sunday School Aug 16th]

Listen to the audio at the bottom of this post.

Ephesians 4:1
We NEED to endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit. We need to come together in one mind, one purpose and one accord but unless it’s Gods mind, God’s purpose and God’s accord we won’t accomplish the will of God.

Why would keeping the unity of the Spirit be my greatest concern? Because in the hour that we live in there are more distractions than there has ever been in the history of mankind. So many things screaming for our attention means that keeping the unity of His Spirit is all that much more difficult. And it’s so easy to be distracted from God’s purpose and His plan.  With all the distractions and information available to us we become haphazard in our spiritual pursuits. We allow other things to take priority and precedent in our lives.

It’s not as difficult as we would like to believe to quench the Spirit in our lives. We can easily make decisions in a moments time that will draw us away from God.

The great tribulation that is prophesied about in the Bible might just be the abundance that we partake of today. An abundance and comfort level that causes us to be so distracted from God that we have trouble making out His voice, let alone hear it daily.

Don’t think for a moment that you don’t have to obey His voice simply because the presence of God is always there when you come to Sunday service.

As time progresses, we need to stop ourselves daily and ask God to speak to us. Make sure we’re being wise with our decisions and choices in an age where distractions are commonplace.

Do You Need to See to Believe? [Sunday School Aug 9th]

Listen to the audio at the bottom of this post.

Sunday School Notes:

John 20:24-29

Faith is the bridge that gets you to the thing you hope for.

Romans 5:1
Having been (past tense) justified by faith we have peace with God. We access him and His grace through faith.

Got will prove himself to be real after we step out in faith towards him.

In the kingdom of God, wounds bring healing.

Unity [Sunday School Aug 2nd]

Listen to the audio at the bottom of this post.

Sunday School Notes:

Eph 4:1
Are you walking worthy of your calling? Unity must begin in the spirit.

1 Cor 1:10
We must believe, speak in order to promote the unity of the spirit.

1 Cor 12:1-6
We all have gifts that work together. The same God works through each of our gifts. Being in unity requires that we realize tht we all have unique gifts and most of these gifts will never be seen by the crowd.

Acts 4-32-37 / 5:1-11
Ananias /Sapphira didn’t commit the worst of what we would consider”sin” today.  The issue was that there was such a level of unity (people selling all they had and giving to the church) that God didn’t want the unity that was present to be disrupted.

The Fruit of Repentance [Sunday Service July 26th]

Listen to the audio at the bottom of this post.

Sunday School Notes:

Jesus called the Pharisees ‘vipers’ because they just wanted to show their face at the baptism. Jesus wants us to show the fruit of repentance, not to merely show up without fruit.

Song of Solomon 1:7-10
When you’re not quite sure where to go next, follow in the footsteps of others (the flock). When we’re not sure of the direction that God wants us to go, follow the body as they follow Christ.

God wants us to change what we sow, so that we can reap differently.

The Fight Against Complacency [Sunday School July 26th]

Listen to the audio at the bottom of this post.

Sunday School Notes:

2 Thes 1:6-12 / 2:1-3
According to the scripture, before the end comes thee will be a great falling away. In order to escape this, we need to take advantage of the gifted positions available to the church. We NEED the gifts that God has given to us. We NEED pastoral leadership.

We can not allow ourselves (both personally and as a church) to become lukewarm because God despises that.

Eph 5:15-33
The relationship between husband and wife is likened to God and the church. With time just as humanity, we can grow cold in our relationships. We must cultivate our relationship with God. Just as the overwhelming divorce rate is a part of our society, this same mentality plagues the church. Our commitment has to drive our long-term relationship with God. We don’t need to change partners, but rather give selflessly as Christ gave and the newness of our relationship will return.
