Unity of the Spirit [Sunday School Sept 6th]

Listen to the audio at the bottom of this post.

Being unified in the spirit means that we all MUST both worship and connect with God.

Our agenda can not be ‘church growth’. God will give the increase based on our participation in His kingdom.  As a church we must be focused on living unified in living lives of worship (everything we do). To be a church focused on the Sunday experience alone is not being unified in His Spirit.

John 6:54-68
The unity of the Spirit doesn’t always bring numbers. Jesus told his followers things that caused the crowd to leave him at times.

The church ought not be a buffet where you can pick and choose what to take to heart. Being unified in the Spirit means that we all are following after God and going in the same direction. Being a Christian means that we don’t always look for God to meet our needs but rather look to meet His.

The biggest chrch on the block probably isn’t the most unified because many attend to hide. God is looking for personal responsibility and accountability.

Acts 2:1 & 2:44
God will move when our assembly is not only in one place, but also in one accord (unity of the Spirit).

The wisdom of man does not bring the annointing of God. Jesus chose fisherman and annointed them instead of working through the religious scholars of the day.

Acts 5:1-16
The story of Annanias and Saphira is not a story about money but of unity. There was such a move of God happening that He did not want the actions of a few to affect the unity of the Spirit.

Acts 17:5-6
We should never be envious of God moving elsewhere because His inheritance and blessings are without measure. The early church turned their world upside down by being unified not by organized ministries and programs.

The Praise In Us – Part Two [Sunday School Aug 30th]

Listen to the audio at the bottom of this post.

Speaker: Ned Kneebone

You cannot devide the godhead/tabernacle/new birth. We are to worship God in Spirit and truth. We need to seek the truth about praise. The foundation of prayer begins with praise (our Father which art in heaven,Hallowed be thy name).

Psalm 149:6-9
When we praise we are given authority (two eged sword)

2 kings 3:14-16
A musician (via praise) will usher us into praise and will cause God to respond. When we enter into praise those around us will be drawn into praise. Just as a passing train/vehicle creates a draft behind it that will draw one in if you’re to close, so our praise will draw those around us to God.

Paul and Silas praised in the prison after they were beaten. When we enter into a heavenly place, a holy place, sin cannot abide there, sickness cannot abide there, bondage cannot abide there!  God help us that we would praise of our free will and not as a result of our trials.

1 Sam 16:22-23
We can access God through others, but…

1 Sam 18…..
We must learn to access him for ourselves

David was a man after God’s own heart because he tapped into the very reason for our existence: praise.

We create a habitat for God to dwell in by our praise.
