Music Ministry
Our Mission
The mission of the Music Ministry at Gateway Pentecostal Church is to create an atmosphere where all people can connect with the Lord Jesus Christ. We are passionate about Jesus and what He has done in our lives. Our desire is to carry the excitement and passion from our church gatherings into the communities around us. You will often find us playing live at outdoor concerts, or other community events.
The Music Ministry opens each church service with contemporary praise and worship music. Songs such as “My Savior Lives” – New Life Worship, “Greatly to be Praised” – Mike Kim, and “Your Name” – Paul Baloche help create an atmosphere of faith-filled celebration as the church body comes together with the purpose of expressing gratefulness to God for all that He is to us.
Our Role
Psalm 150 “Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet, praise Him with the lute and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance. Praise Him with the stringed instruments and flutes… Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
The music ministry at Gateway Church is much more than simply performing a song by singing and/or playing an instrument. We believe that, when inspired by the Spirit of God and filled with the Word of God, music is a spiritual gift to mankind. Throughout the Bible you see examples where music:
- Spontaneously came forth as a celebration for miraculous provision and salvation (Ex 15:1-21)
- Should be used as a vehicle for us to teach and encourage one another about our Great Saviour in the community of the New Testament church (Col 3:16 , Psalm 40:1-3; Hebrews 2:12)
- Aided the prophets ( 2 Kings 3:14 , 2 Chronicles 20:21-23)
- Is a means for us to tangibly express our love for Jesus Christ incorporating our whole being – heart, soul, mind and strength. Mark 12:30.
Invitation to Worship
God created us as spiritual beings with the capacity to be passionate and expressive with our creativity through our God-given talents and abilities. What better way to thank God for what He has done in our lives than to use the fruit of what He has blessed us with to praise and Glorify Him!
